Conservator Magazine, 2015

Since 1980, Ducks Unlimited Canada’s Conservator magazine has been delivering informative, inspirational editorial and beautiful photography and design to our supporters: Canadians who care about our environment and enjoy the outdoors.

The spring 2015 issue themed “Wetland Wonderland” demonstrated that there’s more to wetlands than meets the eye. Readers were invited to explore the beauty of wetlands and wildlife through a stunning photo treatment, complementary articles from conservation experts and a poignant essay about one writer’s connection to the natural world. Conservator is also published in French as Conservationniste.

Ducks Unlimited Canada’s 75th Anniversary logo, 2012

A milestone of this magnitude deserves special recognition. To commemorate Ducks Unlimited Canada’s 75th anniversary in 2013, a unique logo was created. Its inspiration came from a familiar place, and utilized a subject close to our heart: a duck. The logo was expressed on all anniversary materials—appearing on our corporate website, magazine, fundraising collateral, gala event resources, merchandise, and promotional items.

The wing and back form the numeral “7,” while the body and head form the numeral “5.” The earth-hued blue and green colour palette signifies the wetlands we work to conserve. Vertical and horizontal versions were created with additional text both in english and french, set in our corporate font, Garamond. We also created a pairing with our corporate logo as a secondary mark.

The Marsh Keepers Journey, 2012

Wetland conservation has a rich history. It’s coloured with interesting people, beautiful places and proud moments. Stories from Ducks Unlimited Canada’s humble beginnings in 1938 to present day were brought to life in The Marsh Keepers Journey, written by Dr. Bruce Batt. The 256-page book was a cornerstone of our 75th anniversary celebration. Using our extensive archive of photography and imagery, the book educates, inspires, and delights readers as it explores the past, present and future of our organization.

A special leather-bound edition featuring a die-cut cover was also produced, featuring a mounted collector’s edition silver coin created by the Royal Canadian Mint.

Ducks Unlimited Canada’s 2015 Annual Report, 2015

Wetlands are amazing places. They provide a host of essential environmental benefits. The best way for people to recognize their importance – and their awesomeness – is to experience them. Ducks Unlimited Canada’s 2015 annual report (produced in English and French) encourages people to get outside, visit local wetlands and discover what makes them both captivating and essential. Using the theme of “journeys,” it highlights significant Ducks Unlimited Canada projects across the country. It celebrates conservation achievements that have made these projects – and many others – possible. Striking imagery and entertaining copy tell these stories.
